Course Content
This course covers all the basic navigation skills needed to help you feel confident in the outdoors. We will cover understanding an Ordnance Survey Map, including symbols, scale and height, as well as route planning, planning your day and how to use a compass. This course is for beginners or people wanting to sharpen their skills, so if you've never used a map or compass before have no fear this course is for you.
Outline of the Day
Meet from 9am for a 9.30am start, maps and compasses will be provided for use during the day. We can also provide waterproof clothing if required. Ratio of 1 instructor to 6 candidates (max). Between 9.30am-3pm we will cover between 5-10km (3-6 miles), with rest stops including a coffee shop along the way and opportunities to put learning into practice and ask questions.
