Outline of the Day

Meet from 9am for a 9.30am start, maps and compasses will be provided for use during the day. We can also provide waterproof clothing if required. Ratio of 1 instructor to 6 candidates (max). Between 9.30am-4.30pm we will cover between 5-10km (3-6 miles), with rest stops out on the hill. There will opportunities to practice skills learnt and ask questions.


Course Content

This course builds on the Basic Navigation Skills course and takes it to the next level. Using the same skills but in more remote terrain of hills and moorland. We will cover navigation skills and strategies, poor visibility and night nav skills, navigating using the terrain and other navigational aids. This is an ideal course for those who have completed a Lowland Leader course and want to build confidence before taking on a Hill and Moorland Qualification or for those who want to build on prior knowledge or have done the Basic Skills course but would like to learn more.
